Zero to One

by Peter Thiel

★★★★

A sharp, occasionally uncomfortable book about escaping competition and thinking from first principles.

My notes

The most useful part of this book is the insistence that great companies are not built by copying whatever is currently fashionable. They come from a specific, earned belief about the world that other people do not yet share.

I don't agree with every frame in it, but I like books that force me to argue back. The monopoly chapter is the obvious headline, but the real value is the question underneath it: what do you believe that is both true and useful?
